Project D.Nome Talking with Animals
As custodians of the earth and of its natural environment, we have an awesome responsibility and whilst no one doubts our collective capacity to protect our natural heritage should we so chose (and act) we are in fact failing to do so and on an apocalyptic level. How do we raise awareness of what is happening to our environment and inspire and motivate all to do their bit? This is the key challenge to conservationists.
Animal are more intelligent than most of us realise, and live in complex societies that rival our own. Many have the capacity to communicate and huge amounts of research on many different species has been done in this area. This site will bring this research to the fore and become a global focus for information on this subject. It will also initiate its own research, initially with the dolphins of Los Gigantes, Tenerife.
This dolphin research is being initiated by Peter Stone, a world expert in the commercial use of sound in communicating feelings and emotional content and the work promises to be ground breaking. We will also be collaborating with a number of academic institutions across Europe in this work.
We will build on this research work to focus around the following areas:
Research 1. The website will pull together the various projects looking at animal communication around the world 2. We will develop and facilitate research initiatives with dolphin communication (Tenerife) and Elephants (Sri Lanka) 3. We will collaborate with academic institutions to facilitate undergraduate and graduate research opportunities.
Educational 1. We will create educational information materials at a number of levels linked to this work. 2. We will facilitate educational ‘Global Warming’ field trips 3.We will develop multi media facets of this work to strengthen the conservation impact and messages carried.
Eco Tourism We will develop strategic collaborations with the island’s tourism infrastructure aimed at attracting tourism more beneficial to it- Educational Groups, Whale Watching, Holistic Workshops, Sonic Workshops, Volunteer Travel……..
Funding Partners Sponsorships We will be looking to identify strategic commercial partners through which we can fund and build both the core research work and the educational programmes that it will inspire
Multi Media We will focus on developing multi media content because of its enormous capacity to impact on people- for use on the whale watching boats, through educational DVDs and on the internet (IPTV) etc
Sonic Workshops Peter (Stone) will be running Sonic Workshops illustrating the power of sound to impact through his research on the dolphins.
Special education there are clear and proven educational benefits of programmes that facilitate autistic and dyslexic people interfacing with dolphins; similarly with depressed people. We will be looking at developing workshops and learning situations that build on these ideas.
Volunteering This area of work will be accessible to volunteers coming through our volunteer programmes
Holistic Aspects Tenerife is an extraordinary spiritual place, the world’s third highest volcano dominates this unique and beautiful island with its intact South American culture and its indigenous roots going back deep into the mists of time. We want to invite FREE to Tenerife this June leading practitioners from a broad spectrum of the healing arts and show them our Sonic Workshops and Dolphin Communication Research; introduce them to Tenerife’s Spiritual framework -extraordinary properties, local legends of Atlantis, Black Madonnas, Ley Lines, Powerpoints, Herbal, Healers (local)- white and black, Pyramids, the aboriginal guanche ‘mummy’ culture, local stories of the Knights Templar…..We want to run local workshops from practising healers for their benefit and through the exercise develop strategies to bring Tenerife Spiritual Heart back to life…… and maybe reinvent The Dolphin Spring Festival in Los Gigantes.
